The leadership team at SkillsUSA Missouri have added The SkillsUSA Facilithon competition to their palette of state competitions for their 2024 season.

SkillsUSA Missouri Director Bree Nicholson approved the competition and its volunteer construct last week for a state conference event out of Springfield, MO April 4th 2024.  The contest will be held at a school and will be administered initially by Renee Wade, an archtectural drafting instructor from Ozarks Technical Community College.

Facilithon National Director Carolyn McGary shared  “This was a student-requested

contest, from two different schools.  It was initiated by a student, and her instructor said ‘Oh, yeah, this looks really interesting’, two other students at another school said ‘we want to do this'”.

“Adding Missouri to our Facilithon family is just Great” FM Pipeline chair Jim Zirbel shared, adding “St Louis and the state in general need a new generation of facility management professionals is going to positively impact the MO built environment in a scaled, meaningful manner. We hope and trust this changes the game for energy and enterprise efficiency, in Missouri, en-masse”.

The Facilithon program’s mission is to Engage, enlighten and Energize our #NextGenOfFM, creating an entirely new class of facility managers to make wise descisions about our existing built environment. SkillsUSA is the fastest-groeing high school and post-secondary Career Technical Student Organization, popularized by Mike Rowe of Discovery Networks.  SkillsUSA delivers young talent through an ethos of being the best workers and success in trades, technical and leadership roles.
