The Facilithon program for high school and post-secondary students to become Facility Managers awarded medals to their three high school and 3 post-secondary national finalists on Friday June 24th to a full house at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Finalists from Facilithon states across the country travelled there for a shot at winning gold in the first full-national finalists competition.

In the High school competition, Nicholas Huber from Durango high school in Colorado took Gold, Ryan Hughes from Greater Lowell technical high school in Massachusetts won silver and Jacob Melendez from Little Chute high school in Wisconsin received bronze.

In the College/Post-Secondary program, Angela Munoz from Ames Community College in Colorado took Gold, Michael Lopez from Texas State Technical College received Silver and Eduardo Hernandez from Madison College Wisconsin received Bronze.

National finalists also seized the opportunity to record their participation in the public demonstration Facilithon for social media for the upcoming the 2022-23 school year, for which some renderings will appear on TWITCH, the largest gamer’s media site.

Engaging, Enlightening and engaging our #NextGenofFM, the FM Pipeline team created the Facilithon program to populate the struggling FM industry while positively changing the ethos and narratives of those in the career. Emerging from the Covid epidemic, over 100 competitors entered the Facilithon this year and most are excellent entry-level and enrollee candidates for direct-hire, internship and college-level programs in need of applicants. The Facilithon program recently hit critical mass and will soon deliver thousands of energized, willing candidates for our supporting partners. If you are interested in hiring these incredibly bright young adults or need to illustrate you’re helping solve FM’s problem of the century while gaining exposure to our Next Gen of FM, contact chairman@fmpipeline.org or call (612) 426-7227 & say “chairman” for more details.

The FM Pipeline Facilithon program, which engages, enlightens and energizes middle, high school and post-secondary students to become our Next Gen of FM, has applied for SkillsUSA national Demonstration Competition status. Launched in 2014 and having grown to 8 states, the Facilithon has consistently beaten expectations for a 501(c)(3)-driven industry program, due to its strong volunteer core and unique fit in the SkillsUSA CTSO environment with its related career pathways.

Upon achieving this status, SkillsUSA directors, instructors, advisors and students at large will be able to see this unique competition in action on the 2022 SkillsUSA National Skills & Leadership Conference competition floor in Atlanta, GA.

Given its track record of innovation in light of disruptive elements in 2020, the FM Pipeline Team, Facilithon’s creators and administrators, delivered two enhancements to SkillsUSA national leadership to better explain this varied and exciting career with a special demonstration competition for the directors themselves to participate in and explanatory videos including the recently-released Facilitopics Instructor video series to help educators better prepare their students for this competition and subsequent career.

Contact the FM Pipeline Team for more information on how to engage with our next generation of facility management, through the SkillsUSA Facilithon program.
